CAIRO – Egyptian President of the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi warned against Israel igniting a new war in Lebanon and dragging the region into violent fighting that will only lead to further escalation and continued bloodshed.

El-Orabi, during his meeting with the Asian countries’ ambassadors to Egypt, warned that any Israeli attack on Lebanon would lead to an open war that might spiral out of control and plunge the Middle East into a cycle of conflicts, destabilizing the region and threatening international peace and security.

He appreciated the support of Asian countries for diplomatic efforts to stop the war in the Gaza Strip, considering it the main reason behind opening other fronts of confrontation. He also commended these peace-loving countries for supporting the two-state solution and giving the Palestinian people their right to self-determination and establishing their independent state, recognizing that this is the only way to achieve comprehensive peace in the Middle East.

He added that Asian countries highly value Egypt’s strenuous efforts to reach a truce in the Gaza Strip, leading to the release of captives and hostages, stopping the war, sparing civilian lives, and restoring calm in the region.

El-Orabi emphasised the importance of international efforts and the responsibility of the international community, led by the Security Council, to protect civilian lives and spare the region’s people from the consequences of an expanding conflict and the involvement of other parties in a regrettable regional war.

El-Orabi stressed the urgent necessity for US, Israel’s main ally, to take immediate and decisive steps to prevent the “Tel Aviv government” from escalating in Lebanon, enforce a ceasefire, and end the policy of revenge and mass killing in the Gaza Strip, which will drive towards de-escalation in the Middle East.

In conclusion, the Asian countries’ ambassadors honored Ambassador Mohamed El-Orabi with a commemorative shield in recognition of his efforts to enhance cooperation and coordination between Egypt and various countries around the world, as well as his endeavors to garner international support to address crises and bring perspectives closer to serve common interests and issues of mutual concern.
