Vice Admiral Ashraf Atwa, Commander of the Naval Forces, received on Friday a high-level delegation from the United Nations, led by Ghada Waly, Under-Secretary-General of the UN and Executive Director of the UN Office on Drugs and Crime.
The delegation watched a presentation on the development of the Egyptian navay and its tasks in securing and protecting the Egyptian coasts and territorial and economic waters. The prsentation was followed by an inspection tour of a number of naval units at the Alexandria Naval Base to learn about its advanced capabilities.
Waly expressed her pride and appreciation for the Egyptian navy’s efforts to protect Egypt’s national security, praising its role in confronting crimes and drugs along Egypt’s maritime borders.
