Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received on Wednesday Vice President of Equatorial Guinea Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, and the ministerial delegation accompanying him, which includes the Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Security, Health and Agriculture. The meeting was attended by Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry.

The Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy stated that the Vice Presidentof Equatorial Guinea delivered a message to President Sisi from Equatorial Guinea’s President Obiang Nguema in which he expressed his deep appreciation to Egypt its President, and extended an invitation to President Sisi to visit Equatorial Guinea.

President Sisi expressed his appreciation to President Nguema and welcomed visiting Equatorial Guinea on a date, to be agreed upon through diplomatic channels. The President stessed Egypt’s keenness to support the efforts of the Equatorial Guinea government to achieve development, and to continue strengthening the strong relations between the two countries.

During the meeting, Equatorial Guinea’s Vice President praised the remarkable development that has taken place in Egypt, which he regarded as “a real and tangible addition to the capabilities of the African continent.”

He said he reviewed during his meetings with the Prime Minister and a number of ministers ways of advancing economic cooperation and increasing the volume of trade exchange between the two countries.

For his part, President Sisi asserted Egypt’s keenness to support the efforts of the Equatorial Guinean government to achieve development, and to continue strengthening the strong bilateral ties between the two countries.

The president also affirmed Egypt’s full commitment to deepen frameworks of cooperation with our African brothers. He pointed, in this regard, to the promising opportunities to enhance joint investments between the private sectors in both countries, allowing Egyptian companies to work in Equatorial Guinea’s priority areas, most notably the infrastructure energy, health and construction sectors.

Within this context, the Vice President of EquatorialGuinea said his country looks forward to transferring the distinguished and internationally acclaimed Egyptian experience in eliminating hepatitis C.

The meeting also discussed the continental and regional situation. In this respect, President Sisi appreciated Equatorial Guinea’s position in support of the Palestinian cause, and reviewed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

Views were also exchanged on the situation in the African continent, and efforts to strengthen continental peace and security, in a way that supports the path of development all over the continent.
