King Abdullah II of Jordan expressed his pride in the historical relations with Egypt and his support for all co-operation proposals currently being discussed to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples.

King Abdullah II expressed to Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, whom he received in Amman Tuesday, his delight to receive the high-level Egyptian ministerial delegation in Amman to participate in the joint committee meetings.

Prime Minister Madouli said King Abdullah II sent a letter to President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, in which he affirmed the continuation of full support for Egypt in all issues affecting Egyptian national security, foremost of which was the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD) issue.

Prime Minister Madbouli briefed King Abdullah II on the outcomes of the meetings of the 29th session of the joint Egyptian-Jordanian committee in the fields of electric interconnection, health, transport, and housing, stressing that the large number of the Egyptian ministers who attended the meetings reflected Cairo’s keenness to develop relations with Amman.

Addressing the committee meeting, PM Madbouli stressed the importance of coordination to find political solutions and settlements to various issues, asserting that the Palestinian cause was key issue for the two countries and clarifying that the two countries were working together to push forward efforts to settle it in accordance with the agreed international terms of reference and on the basis of the two-state solution.

For his part, Al-Khasawneh affirmed that both countries agreed on the importance of maintaining work on resolving the Palestinian cause that preoccupies the two countries on the basis of the two-state solution and the establishment of a Palestinian state that enjoys full sovereignty over the 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
