MANAMA – Secretary General of the Arab League (AL) Ahmed Abul Gheit and Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) António Guterres have underscored the need to support the roles of the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA).
Abul Gheit said in a post on X that he received Guterres, Ramtane Lamamra, the UN envoy for Sudan, and Philippe Lazzarini, UNRWA Commissioner-General, prior to the Arab summit in Bahrain.
They also warned against the current serious situation in Sudan, underlining the need to work together to put an end to the war in the Arab country.
The AL secretary said the meeting also reviewed the destructive consequences of the Israeli aggression on Gaza and the need to support UNRWA’s efforts.
