Arab League Secretary General Ahmed Abul Gheit said on Wednesday that Israel must put an end to the massacre it is committing daily in the Gaza Strip first to be able to contain the deteriorating security situation in the region.
The UN Security Council resolution to immediately ceasefire in Gaza and deliver humanitarian aid to the besieged enclave must be implemented to save Palestinians on the verge of famine, Abul Gheit said during a meeting with Patrick Gauchat of Switzerland, head of Mission and Chief of Staff of the United Nations Truce Supervision Organisation.
The meeting took up regional conditions in light of Israel’s continued aggression in Gaza in violation of international law and international humanitarian law, as well as successive escalations in the region, said AL spokesman Gamal Roshdi.
