Coinciding with International Women’s Day on March 16th, the Egyptian Women Media Forum, a new initiative under the Arab Organisation for International Dialogue and Co-operation (AOIDC),held its inaugural event.

The virtual symposium, entitled Challenges and Future of the Egyptian Media Woman, explored the current landscape and future prospects for women in the Egyptian media industry.

Dr Hanan Youssef, professor of media and CEO of the AOIDC, highlighted the forum’s aim to address critical media issues and elevate the status of women in the field. Recognizing the challenges faced by female media professionals, the forum plans ongoing activities and events throughout the year.

The event enjoyed wide participation from prominent Egyptian media figures and academics, representing both television and print journalism.

They welcomed the forum’s establishment, applauding its potential to provide intellectual discourse and practical initiatives to improve conditions for women in media.

Discussions centered on the evolving situation of women in Egyptian media. While acknowledging significant progress compared to the past, participants pointed out persisting challenges.

Concerns included the lack of experience among some female media professionals, necessitating additional training opportunities.

In response, the Egyptian Women Media Forum, in collaboration with experts in the field, announced plans to offer training courses tailored to the needs of female media professionals.

Looking ahead, the forum seeks to establish partnerships with local, Arab, and international organizations.
Collaboration will focus on experience exchange and joint efforts to support women in media, ultimately contributing to development, progress, and global communication.
