CAIRO – Egyptian Minister of Environment Yasmin Fouad asserted the deeply-rooted relations between Egypt and France and reviewed the latest developments in the environment file along with other issues related to climate change and maintaining of biological diversity.
This came during the minister’s meeting with French Ambassador in Cairo Marc Barety in the presence of the head of the French chamber of commerce and representatives of a number of French companies in Egypt.
In press statements, the minister noted that the climate change file has become a very pressing one amid various environmental challenges which face the financial and business practices, noting that Egypt’s hosting of the upcoming climate summit (COP27) next year will provide a chance for further negotiations on the climate commitment finances and obligations of the developed countries towards the issue with the objective of delivering such funds to the developing countries to embrace plans to face the impact of climate change.
She said a higher committee concerned with the climate summit will include a work group to ease the participation of the private sector and civil society organizations in the preparations for the summit.
The overall organization plan for hosting the summit will grant a big chance for all the business sector companies to be involved in the climate-related work and contribute to Egypt’s change to a more friendly environment in the development and business processes, added the minister.
She also said the Ministry of Environment will work closely with the ministries of tourism and other bodies concerned to prepare the biggest number of hotels in Sharm El Sheikh to host the summit guests.
