CAIRO – Secretary General of the Arab League Ahmed Abul Gheit on Friday received US Senators Chris Van Hollen and Jeffrey Merkley, who are members of the Senate appropriation committee.
During the meeting, they reviewed the latest developments in the Gaza Strip, Spokesman for the Secretary General Gamal Roshdy said.
Abul Gheit underlined the need to exercise pressure on Israel to stop its military operations against Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.
The secretary general underscored the need to continue efforts to deliver the required humanitarian aid and find real and serious solutions to the conflict with a full ceasefire.
The US senators stressed that Arab countries and the Arab League play important roles to halt this war, release hostages and send relief aid immediately to the Gazans.
