Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly underlined the importance of securing various commodities and following up the implementation of recent decisions on controlling markets and pinpointing seven strategic commodities.
Madbouly made the remarks during a meeting on Tuesday with Supply Minister Ali Moselhi to follow up mechanisms of implementing decisions on market control as well as the progress realized so far in the silos project and development of mills.
This comes in light of issuing a cabinet decision considering some products as strategic.
The seven strategic commodities include mixed oil, brown beans, milk, sugar, macaroni, and cheese.
Moselhi said the ministry will form a higher committee, including the Consumer Protection Agency and other monitoring bodies, to follow up the decision implementation.
As for the silos project which aims at increasing the storage capacity to 5 million tons of wheat, Moselhi said the project reduces wheat loss and maintain the quality of wheat stored all over the year.
The current storage capacity is 3.5 million tons and efforts are under way to add 1.5 million tons.
