CAIRO- President Abdel Fattah El Sisi directed the government to continue efforts aimed at developing all lakes nationwide and maximizing their economic return through benefiting from fish resources and establishing urban communities and tourist spots in the surrounding areas.

Sisi’s directives came during his meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Transport Minister Kamel el Wazir, Agriculture Minister El Sayed El Quseir, Irrigation Minister Hani Sewilam, Chairman of the Suez Canal Authority (SCA) Osama Rabie and Head of the Armed Forces Engineering Authority Major General Ahmed El Azazi, said Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmi.

The meeting reviewed the progress made in removing encroachments, completing dredging works in all lakes and implementing projects to maximize their economic return, in addition to drafting legislation on protecting and regulating lakes, the spokesman added.
