SHARM EL SHEIKH- Undersecretary of the Administrative Control Authority (ACA) said Egypt has been keen on fair distribution of vaccines and services during the coronavirus pandemic.

 

He made the remarks on Thursday during a session on post Covid-19 which was held within the framework of the 9th session of the Conference of State Parties to the United Nations Convention against Corruption that is hosted by Egypt in the Red Sea resort city of Sharm el Sheikh on December 13-17.

 

He said that Egypt depended on communication technology and IT to ensure transparency, curb corruption and achieve justice in distributing vaccines and services via Egypt Health portal and the issuance of e-health passport.

 

He added that Egypt was keen on ensuring high-level of transparency in measures taken at all levels to confront the coronavirus crisis.

 

Meanwhile, Brigitte Strobel-Shaw, the Chief of the Corruption and Economic Crime Branch at the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime, underlined the need to build on pandemic recovery.

 

She said the Sharm El Sheikh declaration due to be issued on Friday will call for promoting international cooperation in combating corruption.

 

For his part, Mouhamadou Diagne, the World Bank’s Vice President of Integrity, said the bank allocated dlrs 157 billion within 20 months to help countries build their capabilities in the face of the coronavirus repercussions.
