Egypt’s Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el-Molla on Wednesday met with Oliver Rentschler, Director-General for Climate Diplomacy, Economic Affairs and Technology in the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin.
The two sides discussed ways to enhance co-operation between Cairo and Berlin in natural gas, hydrogen, green energy and petrochemicals.
They also discussed the possibility of benefiting from advanced German expertise and technologies in implementing green projects that will serve the interests of the two countries.
During the meeting, the minister said Egypt has made great strides in energy industry in recent years, as it possesses robust infrastructure and new technologies for green projects.
This, in turn, made Egypt win the confidence of the European Union as a strategic partner in green energy in general and natural and liquefied gas in particular, the minister said.
He pointed out that there are great opportunities to enhance co-operation with the German side in implementing more successful projects in green energy in light of the close relations between the two countries at all levels.
For his part, Oliver Rentschler stressed that his country is moving to enhance co-operation with friendly countries to diversify its energy sources, with special attention to green hydrogen.
He said that Egypt is one of the most important countries that can be relied upon in implementing German plans in the field of hydrogen.
He voiced his country’s full readiness to support Egypt in implementing its national hydrogen strategy, appreciating the efforts made by Egypt in the field of green energy, energy transition and emissions reduction.
