CAIRO – Egypt’s Minister of Environment Yasmine Fouad said that Egypt is looking forward to attracting Chinese investments in light of incentives introduced for investments in the green economy.
The minister named four domains of top priority within the context of luring Chinese investment; the Waste to Energy (WTE), producing bio-energy from agricultural residues, solar-powered sea water desalination alongside using low-cost technologies for wastewater treatment.
Fouad made the remarks during a meeting with the vice president of the Committee on Population, Resources and Environment of the National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) and his accompanying delegation.
The meeting tackled cooperation towards boosting the participation of the private sector in environment and climate action.
The minister hailed reinforcing cooperation with the Chinese side, in line with directives of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi to activate the executive agreement with China in the environment domain and engage the private sector in the environment and climate action.
Meanwhile, the Chinese official hailed the time-honored relations between the two countries and expressed willingness to maintain cooperation upon the instructions of Egyptian and Chinese political leaderships.
