Head of the State Information Service (SIS) Diaa Rashwan said yesterday that “there are one million children threatened with death in the Gaza Strip,” pointing out that the continuation of the war will turn Gaza into a mass grave.

“Egypt’s position is clear: There must be an immediate ceasefire and an end to Israeli aggression against the Strip,” Rashwan said.

He added that this position is derived from the Foreign Ministry’s statement on December 19, 2022, in which Egypt warned of the continuation of violence.

On April 2023, Egypt, France and a number of countries warned against the continuation of fighting and events in Gaza, he said, adding that same call was repeated in May 2023, with the condemnation of the storming of Al-Aqsa Mosque.
“All of these positions reflect Egypt’s stand in favour of the Palestine cause,” he said, reiterating that ‘Egypt will never abandon the issue’.

He added during a press conference held at the SIS headquarters in Nasr City on Tuesday that President Sisi stressed on several occasions Egypt’s firm stand in support of the Palestinian cause, pointing out that the issue must be resolved as per the international laws and the relevant Security Council resolutions.

He continued: “Violence and collective punishment that is taking place in the Gaza Strip and the violations committed by Israel must stop urgently.”

Egypt condemns targeting of civilians on both sides, he concluded.

In a related development, a water aid convoy of 44 trucks arrived in Al-Arish, North Sinai, heading to Gaza. The aid convoy is provided by UNRWA.

The Egyptian Red Crescent received the shipment, in preparation for including it in the aid convoys, which will cross into the Gaza Strip through the Rafah Border.

Dr. Khaled Zayed, head of the Red Crescent office in North Sinai, said that the aid is being sent to the strategic warehouses in Al-Arish.

He added that the aid transported by air through Al-Arish Airport included medical supplies, medicines, dry food, and means of living, tents, hygiene tools, and hospital equipment.

The Egyptian Red Crescent office in North Sinai announced on Tuesday that it completed the fourth aid batch to the Gaza Strip through the Rafah crossing, which included 20 trucks.

The trucks are provided by Egyptian civil society organisations and charities.
