Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi stressed that it is a top priority to ensure continued humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip in light of the deteriorating conditions.

Sisi made the remarks during a meeting on Thursday with Gen. Michael Kurilla, Commander of the US Central Command.

Defense Minister Mohamed Zaki attended the meeting.

The Presidential spokesman said the two sides underlined keenness on enhancing the strategic partnership between Egypt and the US in addition to intensifying cooperation and coordination in various domains, especially in the military and security domains.

This came in light of the importance of supporting ongoing efforts to restore security, stability and peace in the Middle East region.

He added that the talks tackled a host of issues of mutual concern, including the latest developments in the Gaza Strip.

Sisi reviewed Egypt’s efforts to de-escalate the situation, stressing the importance of rallying up international efforts in order to contain the crisis, and revive the Middle East peace process on the basis of the two-state solution living side-by-side in peace and security.

He cautioned of the gravity of the security repercussions om the region.
