Egypt and Guinea have expressed reciprocal interest in elevating economic, trade and agricultural relations between them to a level that corresponds with their distinguished ties. Expressing this interest were Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and his Guinean counterpart Ibrahima Khalil Kaba during a session of talks they held Monday, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Hafez said.
At the ouset of the meeting, FM Shoukri congratulated his Guinean counterpart on assuming his new post as Foreign Minister as of last month and expressed Egypt’s aspiration to enhance cooperation with Guinea in the coming period.
Minister Shoukri also indicated Egypt’s readiness to cooperate with Guinea in the field of capacity building as well as in the transfer of expertise to Guinea in various technical areas through the training courses organized by the Egyptian Agency for Partnership for Development.
The foreign minister also expressed Egypt’s interest in contributing to the development of Gamal Abdel Nasser University in Conakry into an educational and cultural beacon, not only for the Guinean people, but for the African continent as a whole, spokesman Hafez said.
Regarding continental issues and files, the talks dealt with regional efforts to confront terrorist organizations and organized crime groups operating in the Sahel region as well as issues that represent a priority for the African Union.
Special reference was made in this connection to the issue of the realisation of economic and regional integration by focusing on the implementation of infrastructure projects since such projects contribute to the promotion of inter-African trade and the creation of job opportunities for the people of the continent.
The two sides also stressed during the talks the importance of ensuring Africa’s access to such an adequate share of coronavirus vaccines that fulfills the requirements of peoples of the continent, the \Foreign Ministry spokesman added.
