CAIRO- Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame said he is looking forward to increasing trade cooperation opportunities among member states of the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA).
Addressing the COMESA summit, held in the New Administrative Capital on Tuesday, Kagame said the African integration agenda will be achieved by focusing more on stability in the African continent.
He congratulated President Abdel Fattah El Sisi for chairing the 21-member bloc, appreciating efforts exerted by Madagascar’s President Andry Rajoelina while presiding over it.
The COMESA has remained committed to its agenda in the shadow of the Covid-19 pandemic and is maintaining the implementation of trade facilitation programs, according to him.
Kagame underlined the necessity of maximizing digital education.
He said there is a dire need to adopt policies aimed at establishing COMESA’s platforms to support small and medium-sized enterprises, which, he added, is of great importance to countries in general.
