CAIRO – President of the General Federation of Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) Ibrahim Al-Araby unveiled on Monday the start of a series of meetings with Bulgarian businessmen and investors to push forward economic co-operation and mull possible trade partnerships.
During a meeting with Bulgarian Ambassador here Deyan Angelov Katratchev, Arabi said the success of the economic reforms programme adopted by the Egyptian government turned the country into an important industrial and logistics centre characterised with many investment-magnet features, including distinguished logistics services, highway infrastructure, modern industrial infrastructure, international shipping means not to mention the free trade agreements clinched by Egypt with many global markets, a move that allows Egyptian products’ access to more than 3 billion consumers without paying customs tariffs.
He added that the federation is now preparing for an economic conference during the five-day visit of the Bulgarian trade minister to Egypt next month that aims at expounding available economic opportunities and mulling activation of the Egyptian-Bulgarian business council.
The Bulgarian diplomat expressed his country’s willingness to enhance economic co-operation with Cairo in all domains.
He lauded latest steps taken by Egypt to improve investment climate, including enacting some legislations, achieving security and economic stability and carrying out national projects.
The progress in the volume of trade between the two countries does not level up till now to deeply-rooted political relations binding the two countries.
He noted that Egypt’s imports from Bulgaria include electrical equipment, wood, foodstuffs, dairy products while Egyptian exports to Bulgaria include metal products, agricultural products and textile.
