CAIRO – Egyptian Agriculture Minister el-Sayyed el-Qusier asserted that the state pays big attention to the the country’s strategic and self-sufficient poultry and egg producing sector.
Egypt produces 1.4 billion chickens and 14 billion eggs annually, he said, adding that more than three million citizens work in the sector and there are over LE100 billion investments in it.
This came during Qusier’s meeting on Tuesday with the higher committee of poultry to discuss means of improving the poultry industry.
Nine new zones were allocated for poultry investment with a total of 19,000 feddans in four governorates, Qusier said.
The meeting discussed the mechanisms of contract farming to making use of the harvests of soybeans and yellow corn to provide fodder for the poultry to regulate the prices and decrease imports, he said.
