CAIRO – Egypt’s Public Business Sector Ministry announced that the project of producing electric cars is still “on” and a bundle of incentives is being provided within the framework of the state’s plan to change into using eco-friendly vehicles and localizing this industry in Egypt.
In a statement on Thursday, the ministry took the steps necessary for preparing the infrastructure and providing a bundle of incentives related to the electric cars in cooperation and coordination with the ministries and bodies concerned.
The ministry said that it cooperated with the National Roads Company to prepare a map of the sites proposed to establish a network of 3,000 charging stations in Cairo, Giza and Alexandria within two years.
The sites will be determined in December for the network to be implemented via a private-sector company, the ministry said.
Also, the infrastructure of Nasr Automotive Manufacturing Company is being upgraded in preparation for installing the equipment needed for the production of electric cars.
