The 5+5 Libyan Joint Military Commission thanked Egypt on Monday for hosting a meeting in the presence of the UN mission and representatives of the neighboring Libyan countries to coordinate on the removal of African mercenaries from Libyan lands.

The members of the Libyan Joint 5 + 5 Military Committee met in Cairo yesterday the representatives of Sudan, Chad and Niger to formulate a mechanism for the exit of mercenaries and fighters from these countries from Libya.

The discussions sought to build on the outcome of the committee meeting in Geneva on October 8.

During the Geneva meeting, the 5 + 5 Committee approved an action plan for the exit of mercenaries and foreign fighters from Libya.

During their meeting in Cairo yesterday, the members of the committee agreed with the representatives of the aforementioned three states to establish permanent and effective communication channels on their nationals’ exit from Libya.

The representatives of the three states said they were ready to receive their nationals who are fighting now in the North African state.

They added that their countries would take measures to ensure that these fighters would not return to Libya or sneak into any neighbouring country in the future.
