The Permanent Mission of Egypt to the UN in Geneva has managed to get a resolution adopted by the UN Human Rights Council on the full enjoyment of human rights by young people under Covid-19 circumstances, the Foreign Ministry revealed Tuesday.
In a press release, Egypt’s Permanent Representative to the UN Office at Geneva Ahmed Ihab Gamal Eddin said that the resolution sheds light on the pandemic’s impact on young people’s right to work, education and social protection.
It also called upon world governments to come up with new strategies that allow for effective youth engagement within communities, laying special emphasis on the importance of youth representation in parliamentary and political life, the diplomat noted.
The mission had the resolution adopted in cooperation with 10 countries, in continuation of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry’s efforts to draw global attention to youth-related issues during international forums.
