Minister of Local Development Mahmoud Shaarawi on Monday met several provincial governors, including Governor of Assiut Essam Saad, Governor of Alexandria Mohamed el-Sharif and Governor of Ismailia Sherif Beshara by video link.
Shaarawi followed up measures to legalise state land and collect outstanding financial dues.
This comes as part of government efforts to restore state land.
The minister also reviewed the proposals and procedures to expedite the legalisation process and issued directives to the authorities concerned to overcome any obstacles and to facilitate payments.
The political leadership is attaching due importance to restoring land to the state, the minister of local development said during the meeting.
The Higher Committee for the Recovery of State Lands is in charge of issuing secured documents and preserving the state’s financial dues.
Shaarawi called on governors to intensify work and offer the necessary facilities to motivate citizens to legalise their status in accordance with the relevant regulations.
The step aimed to protect people’s interests, as well as guaranteeing the dues of the state, taking into account the social and economic conditions of citizens.
The minister said that examining legalisation requests during the last period resulted in settling around 82,000 cases.
Since the January 25 revolution in 2011, up to 90,000 feddans (acres) were encroached upon but most cases were upheld.
