President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has stressed that Egyptian-Chinese relations have gained huge momentum over the past years within the framework of a comprehensive strategic partnership.
The tribute to growing relations between Egypt and China came in a phone call from President Sisi to Chinese President Xi Jinping yesterday to express greetings on the occasion of the advent of the New Chinese year, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.
In the call, President Sisi highlighted Egypt’s constant keenness to promote co-operation between the two countries and find new horizons for bilateral relations, especially regarding the attraction of Chinese investments and the transfer of Chinese technology and expertise.
He referred in this context to co-operation between the two countries within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative in a way that realises the shared interests in progress and development, Spokesman Radi said.
President Sisi also paid tribute to the reciprocal support during the coronavirus pandemic as evidence of the depth of relations between the two countries, expressing appreciation for China’s decision to provide Egypt with a gift of anti-coronavirus vaccines, the spokesman said.
Egypt, President Sisi underscored, is looking forward to the strengthening of co-operation and coordination between healthcare providers in the two countries in the transfer of Chinese expertise and potentials.
For his part, the Chinese president indicated that co-operation between the two countries in combating the coronavirus pandemic comes as a reflection of the advanced stages of bilateral relations between Egypt and China and an unprecedented strategic relationship, which is an ideal model for co-operation between China and other Arab and African countries, Spokesman Radi said.
President Xi asserted the shared interest in bolstering co-operation between the authorities concerned in the two countries as part of efforts to contain the virus.
He also highlighted China’s willingness to transfer its relevant expertise and experience to Egypt, in addition to meeting Egypt’s needs for vaccines. In this connection, the Chinese leader lauded Egypt’s success in containing the repercussions of the coronavirus pandemic.
