Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli on Monday met with Director General of Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) Marwan el-Ghanem and Deputy Director of the operation department for Arab countries at KFAED Abdullah el-Musaibeh. Minister of International Co-operation Rania el-Mashat attended the meeting.

The prime minister said the Egyptian government was looking forward to strengthening cooperation ties with the Fund, which is one of Egypt’s most important partners in development.

Madbouli also referred to the prominent role of the KFAED in supporting development efforts in Egypt through financing a number of national projects, notably the Sinai Peninsula development programme.

The Kuwait Fund contributed $3.6 billion to 54 projects in health, transport, agriculture, electricity, petroleum, water and waste water, the prime minister said.

The projects in the Sinai Peninsula are part of government efforts to develop infrastructures according to directives from President Abdel Fattah El Sisi, Madbouli said, adding that these projects have already changed life in Sinai for the better.

Madbouli voiced Egypt’s keenness to strengthen the partnership with the Fund with the launch of new development projects nationwide.

For his part, KFAED director general said his country is eager to launch development projects that will serve the interests of Egyptian people.
