Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli said President Abdel Fattah El Sisi will declare in the coming period the launch of the first international summit to be held under the theme of Egypt’s international summit for infrastructure and sustainability in Africa and the Arab region.
Madbouli said the first round of the summit will be held in 2022, but the date of launching the summit will be decided according to the president’s agenda and in coordination with Arab and African heads of state and government.
The premier made the remarks on Wednesday during the inauguration of the Builders of Egypt Forum, which was attended by a number of ministers and representatives of Arab and African countries.
The forum, themed ‘Egypt experience… New vision on reconstruction plans in Arab and African countries’, offers a great chance for reviewing the unique Egyptian experience and the achievements realised in the construction and infrastructure domain over the past seven years.
Egypt has achieved unprecedented strides in the infrastructure and utilities field, referring to the leap made in the electricity sector.

The prime minister pointed to the great efforts exerted in recent years in the electricity sector, which witnessed a major qualitative leap in the development boom the country is experiencing.

Madbouli thanked Minister of Electricity Mohamed Shaker for the great accomplishments made in this sector.

Madbouli also referred to the achievements made in water and wastewater sector.

He said that the state has made great strides to deliver clean water services for more than 98.5 per cent of the population, noting that the remaining percentage is located in remote areas and it is difficult to connect utility networks to them.

We are working hard to deliver potable water to these areas by any means, the prime minister told the event.

Madbouli said that great progress has been made in the road and bridge sector, noting that what has been achieved is a real miracle, as a great leap has been made in the national road network in addition to new roads that have been completed around the country.

Egypt’s road quality now ranks second in Africa and 28th place globally, rising 90 places from 118th place, Prime Minister Madbouli said.

Road projects implemented by the government in the past seven years have reduced traffic accidents, he explained, adding that death rates have fallen by up to 47 per cent while accidents in general fell by more than 36 per cent.
