Counselor Adly Mansour approved to head EUI’s board of trustees

The board of trustees of Egypt University of Informatics (EUI) held its first meeting on Monday and approved former president Counselor Adly Mansour as head of the EUI’s board of trustees.

Minister of Communication and Information Technology Amr Talat attended the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, Mansour said that planning for the establishment of EUI is an advanced thought that comes in line with the world’s rapid orientation to embrace artificial intelligence in all fields.

He reiterated that the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology is extending much support to EUI in a step that affirmed the state’s interest in introducing such high-tech education for its students as a kind of investment in the future.

During the meeting, Talat voiced thanks to all members of the EUI board of trustees over accepting such mission in the service of the nation, praising their vast practical and professional expertise in the various specializations included in the EUI’s educational programs.

He also asserted that President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s decision to set up the EUI is a crystalisation of the state’s policy to build its individuals’ capabilities to comply with the current age, noting that building the human character is a cornerstone in achieving development in all fields.

The board of trustees also included Sherif Ali Mohamed Hamad, the former minister of scientific research, Assistant Foreign Minister Ehab Badawy, Head of the Supreme Council for Media Regulation Karam Gabr, Deputy Telecommunications Minister for Administrative Development and Digital Transformation Khaled Lotfy el Attar and Deputy Telecommunications Minister for Infrastructure Affairs Rafaat Abdel Aziz Fahmy.

A number of prominent figures, including university professors and CEOs of some corporations, had also been appointed to join the board of trustees.

EUI, the first university in Africa and the MENA region specialised in the ICT domain and its related sectors, has successfully signed two agreements with Purdue University, West Lafayette (PWL) ranked as seventh as best Engineering schools, and sixth in Cyber Security and at the 36 place as best undergrad teaching in US News in 2021.

The university has four faculties; the Faculty of Engineering, the Faculty of Computing and Information Sciences, the Faculty of Business Informatics and the Faculty of Digital Art and Design.
