Transport min., Spanish ambassador inspect new railway signals system

Egypt’s Minister of Transport Kamel El Wazir and Spanish Ambassador in Cairo Ramon Gil Casares on Friday made an inspection tour of a working site to develop the railway signals system on Cairo/Alexandria railway line.
In a statement released by the Transport Ministry on Friday, Wazir said the signals project is being carried out by Talis Group of Spain in Sidi Gabr and Alexandria railway stations.
The minister followed up the progress achieved in the project and said that operation is due in December 2021 according to the set schedule, adding that an automatic control system will be installed in the area between Kafr El Dawar and Sisi Gaber in Alex with a number of 69 light semaphore signals, 38 traction motors and seven crossroads extending for 28 kilometers.
The minister said the Spanish ambassador’s visit comes as part of a fruitful cooperation with the Spanish side in all fields especially the transport sector, voicing hope over more cooperation with the Spanish companies in view of the current promising investment potentials in Egypt.
The Spanish diplomat, for his part, voiced happiness over the achievement of joint mega projects between the two sides, noting that what have been accomplished in the transport sector is a great effort crystallized in the era of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi.
He also asserted that Spanish companies seek to boost its cooperation with the Egyptian side especially in the transport sector, which is the biggest of its kind with regard to new investments.
