Egypt’s Minister of Finance Mohamed Maait said on Friday that the heath sector allocations have exceeded its constitutional entitlements in the fiscal year 2021/2022, to hit EGP 275.6 billion.

This came in the light of President Abdel Fattah El Sisi’s directives to shore up the health sector to provide best services to the people, especially amid the coronavirus pandemic outbreak, Maait said according to MENA.

He added that the Finance Ministry is always ready to manage any additional appropriations for the health sector in the current budget to enhance its capabilities and provide necessary funds for continue purchasing coronavirus vaccines.

“An open budget was allowed to the health sector to face the coronavirus pandemic, and secure the vaccines… as no negligence would be tolerated as regards the health of the Egyptian people,” he assured.

From the start, 3 billion pounds were secured to purchase coronavirus vaccines to ensure the vaccination of the largest number of citizens against the virus, especially in light of the emergence of the fourth wave in a number of countries.
