Egyptian Minister of Health and Population Hala Zayed on Sunday discussed at a meeting with Japanese Ambassador in Cairo Masaki Noke means of boosting co-operation in the health sector amid the coronavirus crisis.

During the meeting, the pair witnessed the signing of an agreement to supply Egypt with 12 CT scanners and five electric generators to be distributed to Egyptian hospitals as needed, said Spokesman For the Health Ministry Khaled Megahed.

Zayed thanked the Japanese government for supporting the Egyptian health sector in its battle against the coronavirus pandemic, the spokesman added. The health minister briefed the Japanese ambassador on the state’s plan to manufacture and provide coronavirus vaccines, the spokesman added.

On his part, the Japanese ambassador said that his country is fully ready to back the Egyptian health sector in its fight against the coronavirus epidemic, hailing the system applied by the Health Ministry to register citizens and foreigners wishing to receive coronavirus vaccine.
