An “artistic epic that lights up the Cairo sky every year”, the Salahuddin Citadel International Music and Singing Festival showcases diverse acts and boast of rich artistic content.

The festival comprises 31 concerts starting at 8pm on 15-30 August.

However, you will still have to wear a face mask and observe social distancing. Visitors’ temperatures are taken on entry and there is no lack of sterilisation points.

Admission will be from 5pm for a maximum of 4,000 spectators each evening.

Transport from the main entrance gate will be provided free of charge to the public, with facilities for the elderly and disabled.

Minister of Culture Enas Abdel-Dayem yesterday approved the programme for the 29th Salahuddin Citadel International Music, which did not take place in 2020 owing to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abdel Dayem said the festival has been organised by the Opera House since 1990.

The Egyptian Opera House under Dr Magdy Saber, representing the culture ministry, will be organising the event in co-operation with the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities.

Saber said that festival embodies social role of the Opera House because it addresses the ordinary Egyptian citizen.

Saber stressed adherence to all precautionary measures, including wearing a face mask, measuring temperature, sterilisation, and social distancing.

Opera House Artistic Director Dr Khaled Dagher, who will supervise the shows, said this year the festival will witness a diversity of artistic richness.
