Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has urged expanding the scheme to establish industrial complexes so that it can cover new areas nationwide and that the financial resources deemed necessary for such expansion be made available.

The president’s remarks came during his meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli and Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea, Presidency Spokesman Ambassador Bassam Radi said.

During the meeting, the president followed up the ongoing efforts to localise industries, the national programme for import substitution and the provision of production requirements for the benefit of the national industry.

He also called for carrying out in-depth studies for the transfer of modern industrial technology in priority areas in partnership with major international companies of long experience in order to ensure the sustainability and steadiness of such industries in Egypt in the long term.

President Sisi then gave directives for upgrading the system of industrial technical schools and raising the capabilities of school staffs in partnership and co-operation with the private sector. The aspired upgrading, the president added, should aim at supporting industrial specialisations in various sectors, thereby augmenting the progress of comprehensive development plans in Egypt.

In the course of the meeting, Trade and Industry Minister Gamea outlined the key results of her recent tour to a number of Arab, Asian and African countries, Spokesman Radi said.

Minister Gamea also reviewed the ongoing arrangements for the establishment of the Egyptian pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which will comprise stands to present the national projects that have been commissioned over the past years and the outputs of the major sectors of the national economy.
