Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi and Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis reviewed Sunday during a phone call the ongoing military escalation in the Gaza Strip.
During their phone conversation, the two sides agreed on the need for enhancing regional and international de-escalation efforts as a top priority to prevent the situation from getting more complicated, according to Presidential Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy.
Meanwhile, Sisi briefed the Greek official on the results of Egypt’s ongoing contacts with all relevant parties to drive de-escalation efforts and ensure safe passage of humanitarian relief into the coastal enclave.
Sisi also touched on Cairo’s efforts to revive the Middle East peace process and bring about a just, lasting and comprehensive peace settlement to the Palestinian issue, based on the two-state solution, the spokesman noted.
