Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El Sisi received Sunday a phone call from President of the European Council Charles Michel.
The talks mulled the successive developments in the Palestinian-Israeli arena, the presidential spokesman said in a statement.
Michel emphasized the EU’s keenness to intensify consultations and exchange of views with President Sisi to end the state of violence and escalation that may lead to dangerous consequences.
The President stressed the importance of stopping the ongoing escalation and exercising the highest degrees of self-restraint as the developments pose serious risks to the lives of civilians and the security and stability of the region.
Sisi briefed Michel on the ongoing Egyptian movements with all regional and international actors to unify efforts, spare the region from further factors of turmoil and instability, and advance just and comprehensive peace efforts based on the two-state solution under international law and relevant international legitimacy resolutions.
