The foreign ministers of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq, currently in New York, discussed ways of bolstering cooperation among the three countries in the various economic and political spheres.
As part the keenness of Egypt, Jordan and Iraq to enhance partnership ties among them, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry hosted Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ayman Safadi and Iraq’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein at the premises of Egypt’s permanent mission at the UN in New York, on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assemblyv, according to a joint statement issued by the ministerial meeting of the trilateral cooperation mechanism.
An agreement has been reached on the importance of finalizing the proposed projects involving the three countries, added the statement.
The ministers also discussed the overall situation in the region, said the statement, adding that they underlined the importance of attaining security and stability.
They further discussed a host of issues, topped by the Palestinian issue, as well as efforts to resolve the Syrian crisis, especially through the efforts of the Arab Contact Group.
They agreed to continue coordination to prepare for the upcoming tripartite summit, which will be held in Cairo.
