Egyptian Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources Tarek el Molla on Tuesday highlighted the significance of energy security and sufficiency of its resources at the international level.
He added that the world still needs the fossil fuel as well as other traditional forms of energy, a matter that has become crystal clear following the eruption of the Russian-Ukrainian crisis in 2022.
The minister made the remarks during a roundtable organised by the East Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF) in Cairo, with the participation of heads and representatives of global oil an energy oil companies operating in the East Mediterranean area.
Molla asserted the necessity of boosting co-operation in order to increase the oil and gas output and secure the energy supply, in line with commitment to measures meant to control the emissions caused by production projects.
The current global challenges facing the energy sector have proven that countries need multiple solutions towards energy transformation and decarbonation, Molla said, highlighting the significance of maintaining diversified forms of energy to cater to the requirements of each country.
