Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El Sisi has called for the continuation of intensive work to develop the telecommunications sector in Egypt, especially through supporting emerging Egyptian companies operating in this field and encouraging their expansion in addition to supporting the outsourcing industry and independent professionals, by promoting investment in human resources as well as providing training and qualification programmes.
The president’s remarks came during his meeting with Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouli, Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat as well as a host of senior officials, Presidency Spokesman Ahmed Fahmy said.
During the meeting, the president called for building the necessary human and material capabilities, in co-operation with major international companies in this sector, in a manner that befits the modern requirements of the labour market and integrates with the state’s strategy to prepare distinguished generations of Egyptian youth capable of global competition and keeping pace with the rapid developments in this vital sector, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The president was also briefed on the developments of the unified government network project to link the components of the state’s administrative apparatus and enhance the capacity for support handling government data in such a safe, fast and advanced manner that qualifies the administrative apparatus for elevating all government services to citizens, Spokesman Fahmy said.
The spokesman added that the briefings and presentations made during the meeting covered the efforts to improve mobile phone services as well as developing the Internet infrastructure to accommodate heavy usage and growth requirements during the current and upcoming phases.
In another meeting on Monday with Prime Minister Madbouli and CIT Minister Talaat, the president followed up on the pace of implementing a number of projects in the CIT sector, especially with regard to the progress of action to implement the Digital Egypt initiative, which aims to support government performance by providing the latest digital services for citizens nationwide, Spokesman Fahmy said.
President Sisi also reviewed the ongoing efforts to advance the design and manufacture of electronics in Egypt by deepening the local manufacturing of devices and designing electronic circuits, expanding the capabilities of human cadres and training them in digital skills, with the aim of benefiting from the competitive advantages of Egypt as a promising country in providing outsourcing services and increasing digital exports.
