CAIRO – Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Hazem Fahmy discussed during a meeting with a delegation of the US House Committee on Foreign Affairs the various dimensions of the Egyptian-US strategic partnership, along with ongoing fruitful cooperation in the military, political, economic and security domains.
Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Human Rights and International Humanitarian and Social Affairs Khaled El Bakly took part in the meeting, in addition to representatives of the departments of Sudan and the multilateral economic affairs.
During the meeting, the assistant foreign minister for American affairs took up the latest challenges facing the Egyptian national security and the recent regional geopolitical developments, along with their repercussions on Egypt and the Middle East. He also reviewed Egypt’s efforts to address these challenges.
For his part, the assistant minister of foreign affairs for human rights and international humanitarian and social affairs expounded Egypt’s efforts to advocate and promote human rights issues in Egypt, highlighting the importance of the National Human Rights Strategy (NHRS) and the Egyptian National Dialogue that encompasses all political powers in Egypt.
Egypt’s strenuous efforts to reach a solution for the Sudanese crisis, including hosting Sudan’s neighbors summit and facilitating the flow of humanitarian assistance to Sudanese brethren figured high during the meeting.
Participants also reviewed the energy file and Egypt’s pioneering role in fostering regional, as well as international cooperation in this regard.
