Security agencies arrested the man behind Monday’s collapse of a four-story building in the Cairo neighborhood of Hadayek el Kobba, in which at least nine people were killed.
A security source told MENA the building collapsed after a ground floor tenant removed part of a load bearing wall inside his apartment as part of renovation work, underming the building’s structure.
Rescue teams recovered nine bodies from under the rubble while four survivors were taken to hospital. Authorities evacuated a neighboring apartment building.
