CAIRO – Petroleum and Mineral Resources Minister Tareq el Molla discussed with a delegation representing France’s TotalEnergies company action plans, programs and activities it is conducting in natural gas exploration and discovery domain in the Mediterranean region.
TotalEnergies is a multi-energy company that produces and markets oil & biofuels, natural gas & green gases, renewables & electricity.
In statements, Molla asserted investment in gas resources in the Eastern Mediterranean region is witnessing a quantum leap thanks to the regional cooperation and integration mechanism created by the Eastern Mediterranean Gas Forum (EMGF).
Such integration has mainly contributed to unifying efforts exerted by countries, governments and world companies working in the region to promote plans of pumping investments in gas resources development, added the minister.
Egypt is an important springboard for global companies seeking to expand their activities in the Eastern Mediterranean region, given that the country has a strong infrastructure for liquefied natural gas (LNG), said Molla.
Molla reviewed with officials of the French company ways of accelerating natural gas discovery and exploration activities in the firm’s concession areas in the Mediterranean Sea.
