Egypt’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Ayman Ashour on Monday received a visiting delegation from the University of Louisville, US for bilateral co-operation talks.

The minister said the agreement between el-Alamein International University and Louisville must be activated in order to benefit from expertise of the letter staff and to train students in modern study programmes and advanced scientific disciplines to prepare a generation capable of navigating an ever-changing labour market.

The minister also referred to the launch last March of the national strategy for higher education and scientific research, which helped in the creation of regional alliances between the Egyptian universities and industry and conducting scientific research in the service of industry.

Discussions also focused on progress to date in the bio-engineering, computer science and engineering between el-Alamein International University and the University of Louisville.

Under the terms of the agreement, students spend their first two years at el-Alamein University with staff from Louisville.

The programme offers training for outstanding students in studies in the US and jobs after studies.

In addition, the two sides discussed summer vacation training to qualify for local, regional and international labour markets.
