The General Secretariat of the Arab League (Palestine and occupied Arab territories sector) has called on the UN Security Council (UNSC) to shoulder its responsibility and put its resolutions into force through compelling Israel to end its occupation of the Palestinian territories seized in 1967 and provide international protection for the Palestinian people.
In a press release on the occasion of the the 56th anniversary of the Naksa (the occupation of Arab territories in Palestine, Syria and Lebanon during the 1967 War with Israel), the pan-Arab organisation urged countries that have not yet recognised the state of Palestine to take steps aiming at achieving peace, security and prosperity in the region.
The statement greeted the steadfastness of the Palestinian people since 1967 and expressed solidarity with them.
It called for establishing a Palestinian state with Al Quds (East Jerusalem) as its capital on lands occupied in 1967 in line with the international legitimacy resolutions and the Arab peace initiative.
