CAIRO – Egypt has welcomed the signing of the Jeddah declaration between Sudan’s army and rival paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) to settle crisis in Sudan.
The Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Friday that such a step is important to provide protection for Sudanese civilians, give access to humanitarian and relief aid, protect public institutions and ease evacuation.
Egypt hopes that both parties could abide by these commitments to reach a lasting ceasefire and resume dialogue to restore peace, security and stability in Sudan, the note said.
Cairo also lauded great efforts exerted by Saudi Arabia and the United States to put an end to the crisis in Sudan as soon as possible.
