Egyptian Irrigation Minister Hany Suweilam has stressed the importance of expanding a telemetry system for canals and connecting it to the water distribution system to better observe the grid and improve management.
Suweilam was speaking during a meeting with senior officials at his Ministry on Tuesday to discuss the process.
The telemetry system is used to measure water levels and quality in the canals, drains, lifting plants and groundwater wells through 400 stations across Egypt, the minister said.
Suweilam urged the officials to update him with needs required to expand and upgrade the telemetry system.
