CAIRO – Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received a phone call from his British counterpart James Cleverly to discuss the latest developments in Sudan, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
Cleverly offered his condolences over the death of the assistant to the administrative attache at the Egyptian Embassy in Khartoum, who was killed during fighting between rival military factions in the Sudanese capital.
He hailed efforts exerted by the Egyptian Embassy and other diplomatic envoys in Khartoum to evacuate their nationals as soon as possible.
He also thanked Shoukry over Egypt’s help to evacuate British nationals from Sudan.
While Shoukry stressed that the military action is not the solution for the Sudanese crisis. He also pointed to the importance of preserving state institutions and supporting international efforts aiming at extending ceasefire and returning to the negotiation table.
They also agreed on continuing communication and exchanging consultations concerning the situation in Sudan.
