CAIRO– Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry received on Sunday a phone call from Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation Hussein Ibrahim Taha to discuss the situation in Sudan, Foreign Ministry spokesman Ahmed Abu Zeid said.
The two sides stressed the importance of committing to the ceasefire in Sudan. They also expressed their sorrow over breaches that occurred during Eidul Fitr.
During the phone call, Shoukry reviewed efforts exerted by Egypt in various arenas and at the bilateral level to support reaching a permanent ceasefire and returning to dialogue. The foreign minister also pointed out at Egypt’s measures aiming at evacuating its nationals from Sudan.
